So, here is my question. Do we really need SSL enabled blogging sites for good seo?
Heard a long time back, that Google will use ssl as a ranking signal, I guess that was dated back in 2013.
Then the news spread like wild fire that Google will penalize anyone who has not implemented https on their website. That any website after January 2017 would be marked as unsafe by Google.
I couldn't find concrete information on this directly from Google themselves. Please point me in the right direction if there is any.
All top influential websites have some link or post regarding this. Most of the websites I regularly visit have already moved to https. Small big, anyone who have the budget, did move.
If not anyone, it helped a lot of certificate providers sell a lot of ssl certificates. Is this some top Internet marketers ploy or the threat is real?
My personal take, if you don't have a payment gateway on your site, or you are not selling any product directly from your website, you should be fine.
What's your take guys?
